News for ABAP Release 7.9x The 7.9x ABAP releases are based on ABAP release 7.8x. The following table shows the ABAP releases, the associated ABAP_PLATFORM releases and the ABAP kernel releases. The first column shows the 7.9x ABAP releases that are shipped quarterly.
The third column shows the 7.5x ABAP releases that are shipped once per year and comprise the respective quarterly releases. The second and fourth column show the release numbers of the ABAP_PLATFORMS , for which the ABAP releases are used.
The quarterly ABAP releases are used by the following kinds of ABAP_PLATFORM_STRICT :
ABAP_PLATFORM_CLOUD that is delivered with ABAP_S4_CLOUD
The standalone platform ABAP_SAP_BTP_ENV .
The yearly ABAP releases are used by the ABAP_PLATFORM_CLASSIC that is delivered with ABAP_S4 . The fifth column shows the respective kernel releases. Apart from ABAP_SAP_BTP_ENV , the ABAP_PLATFORMS are not shipped standalone, but they are shipped indirectly with products as ABAP_S4 and ABAP_S4_CLOUD . The release numbers of the ABAP_PLATFORMS correspond to these ABAP_S4 releases.
